There are low cap nuts made of stainless steel. These have six flats at the bottom like a normal hex nut, where the wrench can be used to tighten or loosen the cap nut. The cap nut is kept very flat and the spanner flats extend from the lower nut to almost the top of the head. On the upper side there is only a small bulge on the nut. The internal thread in the nut is kept relatively short. Therefore the length of the thread that can be accommodated is limited. These stainless steel cap nuts are available as V2A or V4A.

In the case of the high cap nuts made of stainless steel, the lower part of the high cap nut is again equipped with the six spanner flats. Here, however, the spanner flats are only as high as the tool - the open-end wrench - is wide. Towards the top, the high cap nut has a dome which is round and resembles a ball at the top. The thread is very deep in the case of the high cap nut made of stainless steel and can accommodate a large part of a thread in such a way that it is no longer visible even with this nut. The high cap nuts are available either in stainless steel V2A or V4A.

The production of cap nuts is similar to that of the other parts described. These must always be produced on a lathe. Because they are turned parts, they are also produced on lathes. These machines are not conventional lathes, but CNC lathes, which are fed with a program and then produce the parts. In order to increase productivity in the production of the cap nuts, there are always loaders docked behind the machine. This lowers the production costs because the efficiency increases. The cap nuts are manufactured from a raw strand material, a hexagonal material. This hexagon is then made of steel or stainless steel and already corresponds to the later finished width across flats of the cap nut. When the nut is finished, it is usually polished. This process is then the electropolishing process, in which the parts are polished to a shiny finish using electricity. Afterwards, the finished cap nuts can be sent to the warehouse to be shipped to you.
